      What vaccinations are required?

To maintain an environment that is safe for everyone, I must verify proof that your pet is completely up to date on all of his shots before your first appointment. Acceptable proof of vaccinations may be in the form of a paper copy or email from your vet’s office, rescue group, or breeder. DOGS dogs must have their vaccinations 24-48 hrs prior to their appointment

      • Rabbies*
      • Distemper
      • Parvo
      • Bordatella is preferred for grooming. but not necessary.
PUPPIES under 16 weeks: Puppy Starter (Porvovirus, Hepatitis, Distemper). Puppies must have completed at least 2 sets of shots prior to their first groom. Why the wait? This waiting period helps to ensure your pet isn't sore at the infection site, which can cause irritability or lethargy. *My pet is severely allergic to the Rabies vaccine. Can he or she still be groomed? While I usually require all pets to be current on their Rabis vaccine, I understand that some pets are unable to have the vaccine due to a severe allergic reaction. If this is the case with your pet, please have the vet email me or bring a note from the vet stating as such. ^ If your pet has a contagious skin issue, disease, fungus, worms or cough and needs to be groomed, please book a house call groom only.

How often should I get my pet groomed?

this depends on many factors, such as:

      • what kind of fur cut would you like?
      • how much maintenance you're doing at home
      • what kind of dog you have, what kind of hair texture they have
Every dog is different and every dog requires different maintenance. DOUBLE COATED BREEDS (Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, Pug, Chihauhua, any breed of dog that grows a topcoat and an undercoat) Double coated breeds typically have a 3-month hair-growth cycle. This means that your dog should have a professional bath, dry and de-shed at a minimum of every 3 months. Their ears and nails may need attention in between regular grooming appointments. DROP COATED BREEDS (Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Lhasa Apso, etc.) These breeds require more maintenance due to the texture of their coat. Brushing regularly at home can help to extend grooming appointments, but in general, I recommend every 4-8 weeks for a bath, blow dry, and haircut. FLUFFY BREEDS_ (Poodles, Bichons, Havanese etc.) These breeds require much more maintenance. These are dogs that naturally have a curly coat. Curly coats mean the hair is likely to mat. These breeds should be on a strict 4-8 week schedule. If your dog is maintained on a regular schedule, your groomng fee will likely be less than if you were to have them groomed once or twice a year. I charge for the specific time it takes to groom your pet, so if it takes longer, it will cost more. Brushing and blow drying take up the majority of the grooming time and a mat-free coat requires less time during this portion of the groom. Think of it as a membership fee; your grooming costs will reduce with frequency.

How do I know how much it will cost?

It's important to me that your animal is getting the highest quality service to look its best. Different breeds, weight, coats, condition, temperament, and other fators contribute to the pricing. As such I have a starting price range for different size and weight for animals. Once I can inspect your pet, I will provide you with a final estimate.

      Do you groom sedated dogs?

I do groom pets that require mild sedatives. The prescription must be written by the pet's veterinarian and administered at home 1-2 hours prior to the schduled appointment;.

Can your groom pregnant dogs or dogs in heat?

Yes. Pregnant dogs are ok. The services I will provide would be a nail trim, paw pad trim, sanitary clip, brushing, and ear cleaning & plucking. I can also perform a maternity clip if needed.

My dog has tear stains. How can I eliminate them?

Tear stains are caused by a few contributing factors. A red yeast build up may be the culprit. The fruity facial I offer utilizes a special formula designed for the facial area. I also incorporate a relaxing face massage that your dog will enjoy. The product is formulated to help lighten tear stains on breeds with white or cream colored faces. I will try my best to get rid of as much staining as possible, however it is nearly impossible to eliminate all tear staining in one visit.

How long will the grooming appointment take?

Depending on the service you choose, the breed of your dog, and your dog's coat condition (matted dogs take more time), the grooming process usually takes 2-3 hours. However, I can give you my best time estimate once I have meet your pet. The grooming process should never be rushed and every pet should be handled with love, care and patience.

      Will you express anal glands?

I do not include expression of anal glands as part of the grooming process. I will however, gently feel the gland and alert you if I feel a swollen gland. If you wish to have your dog's glands expressed, kindly request this service from your veterinarian.

My dog is scared to go to the groomer. Do you use any sedatives or tranquilizers to calm the dogs while grooming?

I never sedate pets. If your pet has a strong behavioral reaction to grooming or bathing, please let me know when dropping off. If your pet is truly uncooperative or made uncomfortable by the process, I may end the session – but I will never sedate your pet. My motto is “less stress is the best” and as such, will provide a soothing and comfortable experience as much as possible for your pet.

When is it safe to start having my puppy groomed?

Once your puppy has received its second set of shots, call to set up an appointment. Not only is it safe to groom a puppy, it is highly recommended to do so. This way your puppy can learn that grooming is a safe and happy experience.
