The 1940's and 1950's have been a critical period for Rolex and their identity, some models have been created to showcase their classic designs and innocations. Sadly their Metropolitan model did not last a long time and here it is, almost 70 years later showing its pure and simple design, from the engine turned bezel to unique crown, this model is what Rolex innovated with in order to move forward. The watch is as original as it gets with some minor defects on the dial but overall very very clean for its age. The caseback still bears the original crown, 14k marking and brushing.
